Negative experience is not.

Writing crime fiction with a rural noir twang is like comfort food. Baked beans, shepherd's pie, scrambled eggs with toast and hot chili. Things you can eat with a spoon, if you like.

I have spent many a night squatted by a campfire nursing smoky brandy, swapping tales tall and short, daring the sun to come up.

The opinions, dreams, and attitudes I have heard and held convince me most people are good people most of the time.  And pure bad folk are a figment of overactive imaginations.  At least I have never met any.

That said, I am a firm believer that even good souls, given ample opportunity to misbehave, will eventually rankle one another.  And dark ones?  Well, they are as apt to bewilder and amuse as they are to disturb us.  And each has a story to tell.

That's what I'm about. As for who I am, I wrote this completely self-indulgent blog post over here.
